This past week I was a very proud auntie because my little goober turned one! It is so hard to believe that 12 months have already come and gone and that this little tiny human has grown to have such a personality. She is walking and talking (only a few words) and she is so incredibly smart - it blows my mind! I remember her mom calling me, freaking out because she had finally been to the doctor and it was confirmed that she was pregnant. My sister was so afraid to tell my mom that she was having a baby - she ended up waiting almost 5 months before she said anything! My mom was a bit weary at first and I will admit that I was nervous for this big change. I had never had a friend better than the one I had in my sister and I was afraid it would all change once this little baby came along. But, after 12 months - Heck, after 1 month - I knew all my fears and my mother's doubts were for naught. My little goober has been and will always be one of the best things that ever happened to me. I can't imagine a day without a new picture of her being goofy or the weekly Skype calls to check in. Unfortunately I wasn't able to actually celebrate with her on the day of her birthday, but we had a birthday party at my mom's house on the week prior. There were cupcakes and presents and so much family fun. The house was overflowing with happiness and love. It was definitely a birthday to remember and hopefully I will get to see her and give her more hugs and kisses soon - before she gets even older! I hope you guys are having a good weekend and I hope you enjoy these photos! Comment below which is your favorite one! As always, thank you for taking the time to read about my crazy little life.
Hey guys! I have to apologize for being MIA for so long - things got a little crazy this last semester and I really dropped the ball. I had a pretty full schedule with 2 jobs and school and I kept pushing these posts further and further until it finally just fell of my plate and I totally forgot about it. BUT NOW, now it is summer and I have plans to pick back up where I left off. I want to still be able to share my favorite things and my day to day shenanigans with you guys. In the future - If I ever go a little without letting you know what's going on, I keep my Pinterest and Tumblr updated (it's my therapy when I've had enough of all the science and stuff.)
I hope I haven't lost your interest quite yet because I have so much left I want to share! Don't forget to let me know in the comments below if there is anything specific you would like to see! Thanks guys! If you read my "about me", you know that I'm looking at the long haul in terms of education. I still have a year of class BEFORE medical school and once I'm in, it will most definitely feel like it is never gonna end. The one thing I know about myself is if I have an inspiring place to work, I work like a maniac. I will not stop until I haven conquered the world if that space is beautiful enough. I'm moving into a new place in about a month and it has a room set aside just for an office for me, the only problem is that I don't have much of a budget to go nuts with after taking care of dumb grown up things, like bills. I have to resort instead to slowly building that space and looking at office inspiration in the meantime. Both of these speak to me SO much, because they use my absolute favorite color (that minty, tiffany blue), but they also have some individual strengths. The one on the left is what I like to call "clutter-clean". It looks messy, but in reality is just lived in. It's organized, functional and has an amazing color scheme. My favorite thing about the office on the right is that it utilizes a vintage desk. I love the idea of incorporating vintage furniture into a modern space. The only issue I have is that the desk looks pretty authentic and may be difficult to actually use as a workspace with the rough surface. I love how big the space is in the office on the right. I'm personally a fan of things being hidden away in drawers (usually because the drawers are just awfully messy inside, but you'd never know that from looking at it). The addition of a space for some wicker baskets and the fun accessories makes it a space that I think would inspire so many ideas. I think if the office on the left incorporated that tiffany blue color somewhere, it would be my ideal. I love the whimsy and the DIY feel of all the accessories. When I have the means and the time, I love to make things myself because they never turn out completely perfect, but they always seem to look great anywhere, just because you know you made it. Lord knows this won't be the last of my office inspiration binges, but I can't wait to create my own space incorporating different pieces of each of these rooms.
So for starters-
My name is Mackenzie and I'm 20 (almost 21) at the time of this post. I live in Minneapolis, MN with my wonderful boyfriend. I'm a full-time student with a couple part-time jobs working towards my MD. At this point, I've graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology - My mom gets a kick out of saying that I got a "BS" in Psychology, which technically everyone has. She's kinda funny sometimes. - I'm now just taking classes to meet the requirements for my application to medical school, which means all the science you could possibly think of! Hopefully within the next few months I will be taking my MCAT and writing my personal statement so I can apply this upcoming summer. Honestly, I'm totally freaking out, but what is life without a little risk? As for this blog, I'm hoping to use it as a distraction from all of the upcoming stress I will be facing. It's my outlet to share my hopes, dreams, wishes, ideas, etc. with people who might be in a situation similar to me or people who just want a little escape for a bit. My goal is to use this as a place for me to retreat, but to also cater to whoever decides to stop by for a bit. I spend a lot of time procrastinating on the internet, (anyone in college who says they don't is lying) so I know that many blogs/websites are specialized to fashion, food, or whatever. This blog is specialized to whatever the heck is going on in my world from one day to the next and also to what you guys might request. You wanna see a post dedicated to puppies? I'll do it! Sick of my musings and want something else? Feel free to ask and I shall deliver to the best of my ability. Most of all, Thank you for even taking the time to visit and read to the end. I'm just little old me, trying not to fumble too much through life, but I hope you enjoy everything you find and I hope you are inspired to do something that makes you happy today (or everyday). |
