I won't say that I ALWAYS have a sweet tooth. When I get cravings they actually tend to lean towards the salty (besides diet coke, that is - that stuff is my crack.) I go for McDonald's french fries or some Lays BBQ chips before any kind of chocolate. But when I crave sweets, boy do I CRAVE sweets. One of my favorite go-tos is some classic chocolate chip cookies. Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies? I mean, c'mon! Fun fact about me though - Unless they are my grandpa's homemade cookies, I will not eat any chocolate chip cookies that aren't warm and straight out of the oven. I've been trying to combat this high maintenance quality by looking for alternative recipes to use my cookie dough with, that way I can make a smaller batch of straight up cookies, but find other ways to use up the rest of my dough so I don't A: Binge on like 3 dozen warm cookies, OR B: Eat my bodyweight in cookie dough. I have yet to try most of them because I usually don't spend my nights baking (how much FUN would that be though?!) So, I thought I would share them with you guys and let you give them a shot! I promise that I will share my results if I do get a chance to work through some of these recipes & please share pictures and/or tips on the best way to make them if you try it for yourself!
So first off - Don't those look fantastic? Props to supergoldenbakes.com for her idea. I like the fact that these are essentially cookies (easy for even beginner bakers, like me) but that they come with their own dip. A MARSHMALLOW DIP. Like, what?! If you weren't craving sugar before, than you're crazy not to now. These would be perfect to share, or, if you're like me, to just eat by yourself while you're catching up on some New Girl.
This one is probably my favorite because it includes TWO of my favorite things: cookies & ice cream. The "bread" of the sandwich is basically 2 cooked chocolate chip cookies and the middle of the sandwich is just straight up cookie dough ice cream, which again, makes it super great for a novice like me. Another cool thing is that the recipe for the cookie dough is egg-free, so for people who have an egg allergy, you can give these a shot too!
I really like the "sharing" aspect of this recipe. This would totally be a winner at any parties that I could have with my friends. It would probably be gone within the first five minutes (mostly because I'd eat half of it on my way to the party, but I digress). It's great too because if you don't have an actual special occasion to make it for, it's easy to store and eat as dessert a few nights a week. Even better, the dip is "cooked" so it doesn't come with any of the health risks (salmonella) that eating large amounts of raw cookie dough has.
As I said before, I unfortunately don't get to spend my days baking, but if I did, these would be at the top of my list. Give your favorite chocolate chip recipe a shot and share your hard work with me!
